Barakatworld.org Barakat is a tax-exempt non-profit supported by several rug shops (including Salt Bay Trading Co.) and producers as well as donations from individuals.Barakat provides access to schools and education for women and children in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Barakat operates seven schools in South and Central Asia as well as neighborhood literacy programs and teacher training in Afghanistan.
Machik.org Machik is a non-profit organization to dedicated to promoting sustainable development, conservation, and education projects in communities on the Tibetan Plateau. A portion of the profits from the sale of Zamling rugs provides the majority of support for Machik activities.
Mainefiddle.org Maine Fiddle camp is held at Camp NEOFA in Montville on the third weekend and week in June and two weeks in August.
Not just a camp for fiddlers, Fiddle Camp brings together students of all ages and abilities to play cello, guitar, whistle, piano, banjo, string bass and mandolin and to celebrate the rich musical heritage of this region. Camp facilities are rustic, but the food is very good. Affordable, family friendly and fun, Maine Fiddle Camp is worth checking out.
